About ME

A story of evolution

For years, We are trying to work for making our world green and peaceful place. Climate change and other problems of world, we think will be solved by technological advancement. But long back environmentalist has told us, it is not going to work. Only hope is change in behaviour, lifestyle of us, human.

A shift from me to WE to ME is required. where our small little self transform in togetherness, collective of we and whole together feel oneness with the nature and finally call ourselves 'myself earth'.

About: About

What is myself earth

Myself Earth* is a project to provide sustainability education heuristically. The initiative believes in the philosophy of ‘Self Care to Earth Care’ and ‘Self Development to Sustainable Development.’ We are driven by this vision to enable people to become more aware of their true relationship with nature & facilitate people’s journey of oneness with nature. It is done through our different programs by integrating different subjects(like psychology, science etc) & using different mediums of expression.

*The word Earth has been used as a representative of Nature/Universe & not referred solely to one of the 5 elements of nature.

"I used to think that top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change. I thought that thirty years of good science could address these problems. I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy, and to deal with these we need a cultural and spiritual transformation and we scientists don't know how to do that..."

Why is it needed?

In the current times, we are seeing so much exploitation of nature happening at different levels- consciously & unconsciously by individuals & institutions. Our current relationship with nature is of greed, conquest & transaction. Even though many people are more connected to nature, we are not fully aware about the issues holistically and their root cause. Our adoption of solutions is coming out of fear & creates divides as everyone is not able to afford solutions, eg organic food.

Thus education of sustainable development needs to bring in many changes to the way we practice teaching-learning. Myself Earth aims to bring awareness of our true relationship with nature rooted in love, gratitude & abundance. It is achieved through using experiential, democratic, inquiry and playful ways to build knowledge, skills, attitudes and values.

As per UNESCO, 2014 definition -  education for sustainable development requires participatory teaching and learning methods that motivate and empower learners to change their behaviour and take action for sustainable development. Doing so, we will be able to achieve one of the goals mentioned in NEP 2020 of making environmental education an integral part of school curricula. That is where Myself Earth programs(shared below) & pedagogical approach align with the vision of NEP 2020 & UNESCO for sustainability education. Considering its urgency, the schools & institutions have no curriculum or required skills to impart sustainability education in schools. Hence, Myself Earth wishes to bridge this gap of sustainability education in schools.
